  Wacky Baccy Eh! Cannabis Now Legal in Canada

  so canada has legalized pot / marijuana / cannabis and you can go to stores today and buy some.

  the local news is covering it here in calgary with crowds of thousands expected at one of only 2 stores licensed in the city but last i saw, there were only 7 people in the line so who knows how popular it will be.

  i imagine all the people who really wanted to get it could already get it easily so this is more about expanding the market to new users who will be less inclined to queue for hours on day 1.. apparently you'll also be able to purchase online with discreet delivery by canada post.

  i resigned from the jw's in my 20's over 30 years ago, i was immediately shunned by my entire family and it's remained that way with a few exceptions ever since.

  one of those exceptions was being contacted by a cousin a few years back and during that conversation i discovered that my mother had been and still was the prime mover in my complete and continuing shunning.

  i then used what contacts i had left to confirm it.

  I would have asked your brother if he was prepared to mend bridges with you and treat you as his brother from now on - if you agreed to his begging request.

  His inevitable indoctrinated response would have terminated the discussion - and any further contact.

  Married for 30 years

  today we celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and my sons 16th birthday.

  i feel privileged to be able to show my appreciation and love for both the men in my life without feeling guilt.

  we left in 2009 as a family and have not regretted the choice.

  If the Bible is truly the word of God then why are their so many different Translations ?

  not only are their different translations from different denominations ,like the greek orthodox ,russian orthodox ,roman catholic .various protestant versions and others as well as the nwt of jw`s.. however various denominations print different versions of the bible which fair enough may only be minor differences yet at the same time they are differences to what they previously printed .?.

  and some have serious discrepancies .. as if they are trying to get to the true meaning of what god or jesus christ actually said or meant ?.

  are they for real ?

  there were numerous objections and claims that watchtower lawyers made to try and get out of being held responsible for their negligence and malice.

  here’s the juicy ones:.

  montana is a mandatory reporting state, but watchtower lawyers claimed that the law for reporting abuse only applies to “individuals” and they are “corporations”.

  In the UK, trustees of charities are strongly advised to take out personal liability insurance as trustees of charities can individually & collectively be sued.

  I've never met any trustees [elders] in any congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses who even considered protecting themselves in this way.

  You'd think the "faithful slave-master" would protect them by warning them, wouldn't you?

  Question for elders about child abuse

  must the testimony of two witnesses of child abuse be them witnessing the abuse as it happens (seeing or hear it), or can it be two witnesses of strong circumstantial evidence as described on the back page of the july study edition watchtower?.

  if the two witnesses must have actually witnessed the abuse take place, how would that work in the two scenarios below?.

  scenario 1.. pioneer johnny has been privately counseled by the elders in the past not to be so “touchy” with kids in the hall, always given them big hugs and the like.

  If there are not two witnesses or no confession is made regarding a charge of paedophilia, elders are instructed that nothing can be done to the accused. The "two witness" rule must be applied to child-rape!

  Disgustingly, the organization abandons the "two witness rule" when it suits - on two counts:

  a) If two people see a member of the opposite sex entering another person's home and then leaving the following morning, an assumption is made that sexual intercourse has taken place, and both parties will be subjected to a Judicial Committee hearing based upon that assumption - not upon eyewitness testimony!
  

  b) Also, elders can accept the testimony of one witness to a serious sin, if another witness can be found to a similar but separate sin by the same accused person.

  There is a scriptural principle at Deuteronomy 22:27 where no one hears the woman screaming or sees her being raped.

  i’m happy to say that, yet as always with the wts there is a price to be paid.

  i’ll explain how this is working out.there’s a new development in the family that’s making the final break possible, and sadly is where the penalty for leaving is going to happen.

  only one person of all the jw family history is left that could start a fifth, he’s my nephew.

  neither side can or will get all that they thought they were voting for.. if another eu in/out vote was taken, expect to see a lot of people change sides.. two points which raise questions imo:.

  Two points which raise questions IMO:

  1) If no hard border is established between Eire & NI, the UK is effectively closing the front door to Europe at Dover, but is leaving the back door wide open in Ireland. (so much for Brexiteers wanting to restrict immigration from the EU)

  2) The Scottish government is now talking about holding yet another referendum on independence, and if successful, would apply to join the EU as an "independent nation."

  Basically, the Scottish National Party will swap the alleged chains of the Westminster parliament for the chains of the Brussels parliament. Independence???
